Grilling Baked Potatoes Recipe

(Serves 4 - 8)
Time: 30 Minutes

  • 4 large baking potatoes

  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  • Grilled Baked Potato Topping

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or to taste)

  • Diced green onions (chives)

  • Sour cream
  • Directions for Grilling Baked Potatoes

Preheat grill for medium-high heat (400 degrees F).

    Grilling Tip:
The grill is ready when you can only keep the palm of your hand two inches above the grate for about 3 seconds before pulling away.

Cut the potatoes in half. Place them in a large pot of water over medium high heat and cover. Bring to a boil and cook about 10 minutes, or until tender. Drain potatoes and toss with melted butter, parsley, minced garlic, salt, garlic salt, and pepper.

Lightly oil grate and place the potato halves skin-side down on the grate over indirect heat (off to the side, not directly over the coals/flame). Cover.

It takes about 15 minutes to grill baked potatoes to a golden crispy finish. Five minutes before they are done, flip them over, top with cheese, cover, and continue grilling until golden and crispy.

To serve, top grilled potato halves with chives and sour cream.
