Cooking Cod with Basil and Lemon on the Grill

This type of fish is a good choice for the grill because it holds together well.

Preheat grill for medium-high heat (400 degrees F).

Grilling cod fish only takes 4 - 5 minutes per side (per inch) to cook through. You'll know its ready to flip when the edges are opaque and it releases fairly easily from your grill.



Tasty Grilled Cod Fish Tacos Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 4)
Time: 30 Minutes

  • Olive Oil


  • Garlic powder (see directions)


  • Onion powder (see directions)


  • 1 pound cod fillets


  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt


  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise


  • 1 lime, juiced


  • 1 jalapeno pepper, minced


  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt


  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano


  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin


  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed


  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper


  • 1 (12 ounce) package corn tortillas


  • Cabbage, finely shredded (red, green, or both)


  • Directions for Cooking Cod on the Grill

    Preheat grill for medium heat (350 degrees F)

    Meanwhile, each side of your fish fillets with olive oil. Sprinkle each side twice with garlic powder and once with onion powder.

    In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the yogurt, mayo, lime juice, minced jalapeno, sea salt, oregano, cumin, dill weed, and cayenne pepper. Set-aside in refrigerator to chill.

    Liberally oil your grate. Grill cod 4 - 5 minutes per side. The fish is done when it is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

    To serve, fill each corn tortilla with shredded cabbage, grilled cod, and white sauce.
