How to Grill Redfish


Blackened with a Lime-Cilantro Butter Sauce

While watching this video, keep in mind these grilling tips:

Preheat grill for medium-high heat (450 degrees F).

When grilling this type of fish keep the skin on and be sure to lightly oil the grate to prevent sticking.

Grill with the skin-side down.

Grilling redfish takes about 20 - 25 minutes total.



New Orleans Blackened Grilled Redfish Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 4)
Time: 40 Minutes

  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted


  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper


  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper


  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper


  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder


  • 1 teaspoon salt


  • 1 cup Italian-style salad dressing


  • 4 (4 ounce) red fish fillets


  • Directions for Grilling Redfish Fillets

    Preheat grill for medium-high heat (450 degrees F).

    In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, cayenne pepper, black pepper, lemon pepper, garlic powder, salt, and italian dressing.

    Lightly oil grill grate.

    Brush each side of your redfish fillets with the spiced butter mixture.

    Grill skin-side down and cover. Every five minutes, remove cover, brush the flesh side with more of your mixture, and recover. Do not flip. Continue this process for 20-25 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
