Tips for Marinated Steak Recipes

Blend all the steak marinade ingredients in a food processor or blender for at least 15 seconds. This will make sure everything combines well and no single ingredient dominates the flavor.

Place steak and marinade in a large resealable plastic bag. Turn to coat. Open, remove excess air (this forces the marinade to surround the steak), reseal.

Never poke holes in you steak. You will lose juices and risk drying out your meat.

We recommend marinating steaks for the grill at least 1 1/2 hours (the longer the better up to 24 hours). This is especially true for leaner cuts like flank steak because marinating it will tenderize your steak and add flavor. Just be sure to allow marinated steak to come to room temperature before grilling (about 90 minutes on the countertop). Doing this avoids burning the outside of your steak while waiting for the inside to cook thoroughly.

To speed things up, remove marinating bag from the refrigerator and place it into hot water. This will not only help to bring your steak to room temperature quicker but it will also reliquefy your marinade which may have solidified in the refrigerator.

To kick up the flavor don't discard leftover marinade. Instead, reduce it in a saucepan to create a sauce that can be brushed onto your steak during grilling. If the base of the sauce is sugar then apply it at the end of grilling to avoid burning it.
