Grilled Candied Sweet Potato Recipe

These grilled sweet potatoes with a butter and brown sugar glaze taste great and are easy to make. Try it and tell us what you think at the bottom of this page.

Grilled Sweet Potatoes Recipe

(Serves 4 - 8)
Time: 30 Minutes

  • 1 large sweet potato, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch thick slices

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

  • Salt to taste

  • Brown sugar (to taste)

    Preheat a grill for medium-high heat (about 400 degrees F).

    Grilling Tip:
    The grill is ready when you can only keep the palm of your hand two inches above the grate for about 3 seconds before pulling away.

    Meanwhile, microwave sweet potato slices for 4 minutes to start the cooking process. Then toss them with melted butter and salt.

    Lightly oil the grate and lay the slices crosswise (to prevent them from falling through) over indirect heat (off to the side, not directly over the coals/flame). Cover.

    It takes about 8 minutes per side to grill sweet potatoes. Before turning sweet potatoes over, sprinkle with brown sugar.

    Grill sugared side down and finish grilling until tender and glazed. Serve warm.
