Grilled Turkey Breast Recipe

Grilled Turkey Breast Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 12)
Time: 3 - 5 Hours (includes marinating)

  • 3 cloves minced garlic

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil (or 1 tsp dried basil)

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar

  • 2 (3 pound) boneless turkey breast halves

  • Directions for Grilling a Turkey Breast

    1. In small blender or food processor add the minced garlic, brown sugar, fresh basil, black pepper, cinnamon, vegetable oil, soy sauce, and red wine vinegar. Blend for at least 15 seconds to thoroughly combine all of the flavors.

    2. In a large shallow dish, blend the vegetable oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, and brown sugar. Place the breasts in the dish, and turn to coat. Pour

    3. Pour marinade into a large resealable plastic bag. Add the turkey breast. Remove excess air and seal. Turn to coat. Marinate in the refrigerator for 2 - 4 hours.

    4. The last hour set it out on the counter to bring everything to room temperature.

    5. Meanwhile, preheat the grill as follows:

    Indirect, medium-heat
    (325 - 350 degrees F)
    Grill-safe drip pan placed anywhere inside grill

    Indirect heat, medium ash, grate should be on medium setting
    Split charcoal bed (about 24 coals per side)
    Heavy-duty drip pan placed between the banks of coals

    6. Clean and liberally oil your preheated grill.

    7. Barbecue turkey breast over direct heat on both sides to sear skin (about 5 minutes per side).

    8. Move turkey breast on the grill to indirect heat. Close lid. Grilling this amount of turkey breast will take about 45 minutes to cook through. Cover tightly with foil and place on grill over indirect heat.

    It's done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the breast registers about 170 degrees F.

    9. Remove turkey from grill and let it rest 15 minutes to allow the juices to settle. This way when you cut into it the turkey it will be moist, tender, and full of flavor.
