Grilled Top Sirloin Steak Recipe

Grilled Sirloin Steak Marinade Recipe

Ingredients
(Serves 4 - 8)
Time: Under 1 Hour

  • 1/3 cup butter, softened


  • 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic


  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder


  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley


  • 4 pounds beef top sirloin steaks, at room temperature


  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • How to Cook Sirloin Steak on the Barbecue

    Before grilling sirloin steak it is important that your top sirloin steaks be at room temperature to avoid charring the outside while waiting for the inside to cook.

    Preheat grill to high heat (600 - 800 degrees F). You know the grill is ready when you can place your hand a few inches above the open grill grate for only 1 - 2 seconds before pulling away. Keep your grill at this temperature for at least 30 minutes.

    Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together the sirloin steak marinade recipe ingredients (softened butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, and dried parsley). Set aside.

    Rub salt and pepper (to taste) on both sides of steaks.

    Lightly oil grate and grill sirloin steaks, covered, to preferred doneness. To preserve juices do not use a fork. Use tongs or a spatula to turn top sirloin steaks (just once) midway through grilling. Have a sprayer handy to tame flare-ups.

    Cook Times for Grilling Sirloin Steak

    Rare 10 - 12 minutes
    Medium 12 - 14 min.
    Well 14 - 18 min.

    If you use an instant read thermometer, insert it into the center of the thickest part of each top sirloin steak.

    Grilling Tip:
    To preserve juices use the press test. Press on steaks with the edge of your spatula or tongs. It will depress easily if it's rare, offer some resistance if it's medium, or be firm if it's well done.

    Before cutting or serving, transfer top sirloins to a serving dish and brush tops liberally with garlic-parsley-butter sirloin steak marinade and allow to rest 2 - 3 minutes.
