Easy Grilled Lentil Burgers Recipe

These homemade lentil burgers with carrots, dried sage, and rosemary are delicious, easy, and quick to grill up. Try 'em and tell us what you think at the bottom of this page.

Spicy Tofu Burger Recipe

(Makes 6 Vegetarian Burgers)
Time: 45 Minutes

  • 1 cup diced carrots

  • 1 (16 oz) can whole cooked lentils, rinsed and drained

  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped

  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage

  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

  • 3 slices of bread, crumbled

  • 6 whole wheat buns, split and toasted

  • Directions for Grilled Burgers with Lentil

    Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat (450 degrees F) and lightly oil a sheet of aluminum foil.

    Meanwhile, boil diced carrots until tender (about five minutes.) Drain and place in a medium bowl. Mash carrots and lentils together with a fork or masher.

    Mix in the finely chopped celery and onion.

    In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, rosemary, sage, and pepper. Stir this into the lentil mixture.

    Stir in the bread crumbs, adding additional bread crumbs if needed until the mixture is sticky and holds together. With a light touch form into 6 burger patties and place on prepared sheet of aluminum foil.

    Lightly oil grill grate and place sheet of aluminum foil with burgers on the grate. Grill garden lentil burgers 8 minutes, covered, flipping once half-way through.

    You can also bake these vegetable burgers on a baking sheet at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes, flipping once half-way through.

    These lentil veggie burgers taste great topped with spinach, tomato slices, and feta cheese.
