Grilling Tips for All Your
Veggie Burger Recipes

Our homemade vegetarian burger recipes are so good you'll never buy store bought again.

We recommend doubling or even tripling our recipes and freezing the leftover vegetable burger patties. Then the next time you want to enjoy a garden burger, just preheat your grill and throw one on frozen. Not only is this method quick and easy but grilling your vegetable burgers frozen will keep them from falling apart on the grill.

If your vegetarian burger recipe calls for canned whole beans or peas like black beans, chickpeas, lentils, etc. Rinse and dry-off the beans before mashing. This reduces excess water so everything stays together on the grill instead of falling apart into a watery mess.

It also helps to blend added vegetables like corn, bell peppers, and garlic in a food processor then strain through a fine strainer to remove excess water.

All veggie burgers require a binding agent to hold everything together. Bread crumbs, rolled oats, mashed potato flakes, and corn flakes work well for this.

Veggie Burger Recipes: Egg Substitute

Most of our vegetable burger recipes call for egg. If you do not eat eggs try this egg substitute:

1/2 cup flaxseed
1 1/2 cups water

Using a coffee grinder or Magic Bullet, grind flaxseed to a fine powder.

Add water and continue to blend on high for 2 minutes. It can be used now but it has a more egg-like consistency if allowed to chill to at least 1 hour.

This flaxseed egg substitute will keep for 3 days if refrigerated.

For use in your garden burgers: 1/4 cup of flaxseed mixture = 1 egg (or 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 3 tablespoons water = 1 egg substitute).
